Mandala Printmaking

Fifth grade students studied Mandala's and radial design.  They designed their own mandala and transferred their design on to a styrofoam block (meat tray).  Once their block was finished, we used brayers and water soluble printing ink to print their designs on colored construction paper.  Each student made three prints, on three different colors of construction paper.  For their final assessment, we had a whole class critique of their work.  Student's chose their best print, and hung it on the board.  They discussed the strengths and weakness of the artwork as well as what they learned from the printmaking process.  Check out some of their prints below!
